5. Why is SDS offering this service?

Due to the problems our customers were experiencing, SDS quickly realized that a reliable and effective web site setup and implementation was important for a business. We can start a customer with a simple web site and grow it to a professional high level e-commerce system. We feel this is an important and valuable service to meet the needs of our customers.

6. Why would I want SDS to host my web site when I can do it on my own equipment?

Unless your web site needs real-time access to other systems at your company, it rarely makes sense to host it internally. Properly hosted on your network, the web site should be running on a standalone server, with a variety of firewall and other types of protection equipment and software to separate it from your other systems, which in effect means you would actually be running it external to your current systems anyway. The cost of all this equipment and software alone would take many years of operation to cost justify. Additionally, if done properly, periodic changes to equipment and software would be needed to assure your site remains reliable and secure. Hosting it at an off-site, secure location, like SDS, allows you to be free of all those expenses and worries.

7. Can you tell me specifics of the hardware and software setup?

For security purposes, we do not intend to discuss or publish our web hosting setup. We can say that all equipment is new, name brand, server class equipment, with RAID disk protection and various fail-over capabilities. All software uses the latest technology for protecting your systems. Should you want to tour our facility, we can show you the equipment but will not discuss the technical setup.

8. Why do you feel you are better at this than others who offer the same services?

SDS prides itself on being the most technically certified and advanced computer service company in this area. Our formal relationships with Microsoft and IBM as well as our other relationships with major vendors like DELL, CISCO and HP allows us access advanced levels of support. Perhaps most important though is our commitment to our customers. We feel we will best meet their web hosting needs by allowing us to work directly with them in developing, enhancing and protecting their web site systems.

9. What experience do you have with this?

We have developed and continue to support a variety of web sites, with all levels of complexity. The largest site is a full level e-commerce site with over 5,000 parts for on-line ordering, tied directly into the customer’s back end systems, running from the SDS offices on equipment dedicated only to this function. We already have multiple web hosting customers using our service.
